I got the shade “lady like” from Essie as one of two shades in a duo gift set. The other shade was a rose gold glitter polish that I use as a polish on top of the “lady like” shade if I want to glam it up and add some sparkle. The shade “lady like” is a dusty pink nude colour that looks beautiful on its own and is a perfect neutral hue. The brush is wide and flat and makes application easy and seamless, and Only 1-2 coats are needed for a streak-free, non-patchy finish. This polish also has a glossy look which is beautiful and looks so elegant and classy. I am glad I got this in the set as it is nice to wear alone but will be fun to add the glitter topper when I am wanting to give my nails a more glam, shiny look. Great nail polish and happy I am finally trying Essie, as all my other nail polishes are from other brands like OPI, sinful colors, Rimmel etc, so it’s nice to try this iconic nail brand for a change.

I got the shade “a cut above” from Essie as part of a duo gift pack that was half price at Priceline, as I was wanting the other shade “lady like” that was in the pack, but something about the rose gold glitter polish in combination with the other shade sold me (and it worked out a better deal buying the set of both rather than getting them each individually). This shade is straight up a rose gold glitter in a clear base, so it can be applied either on its own for a sheer glittery nail look, or over the top of another nail colour. On its own, it came off a bit patchy as the glitters can clump together in certain parts. But to fix this you can layer it up a bit for a more even glitter coverage. My personal preference however is using this over the top of the “lady like” shade as it just works perfectly. I’m not sure if I will reach for this very often, but it is beautiful and applies easily with the flat, wide brush, and it’s an easy way to glam up your nails. I think adding a few layers of this glitter polish over a nude nail colour could make your nails look like they’ve been done at a salon, and I’m interested to see how this one might look over other colours such as black, white, or other more pinkier-nude nail colours. It may even look cool on top of other colours like deep blues or even purples, so this one I think will be fun to experiment with.

I got this nail polish from Essie in the shade “saltwater happy” which was half price at Priceline. The shade is described as a baby blue, and has a beautiful glossy finish. I find the consistency of the polish to be easy to work with, as it’s not too watery and not too thick so you can apply it with ease for a steak-free finish. It also applies really evenly without any patchiness thanks to the flat, wide brush that makes application seamless. Something about the name of this polish along with the beautiful colour sold me and I ended up getting it along with some other shades in the range. I think the shade name of this one is so beautiful, and puts you in mind of warm sunny beach days with clear blue skies. While this shade is similar to another I already own from another brand, I still got this, as unlike my other one this one from Essie does not contain any glitters or micro-shimmers, and is ever-so-deeper so that’s how I justified getting it (haha). But I don’t regret it as it’s cute and a fun colour without being too loud or in-your-face, and the glossy finish really makes it even more stunning.

I recently got the shade “Bordeaux” from Essie in a duo gift set with another nail polish in the shade “ballet slippers”. The latter is the shade I was initially seeking, but when I saw it came in a set with Bordeaux I got the set instead as it was half price at Priceline and worked out cheaper than buying them individually. Plus I really loved the deep, bold, sultry red wine shade of Bordeaux which was giving stunning vampy vibes from the swatches I looked at online, so I had to get it. I also found out that Bordeaux is one of the first shades that Essie created back in the early ‘80s and they continue to produce it to this day. The shade is just perfect, it’s a deep red Shiraz-like colour and it can be applied in thin layers for a redder look, or layered to become a deeper more bold wine red. The brush is great, wide and flat which makes it so easy to apply the polish. The bottle size is good too with plenty of product. I also love the consistency of the polish, as it’s not too runny/ watery and not too thick, making it easy to work with the polish to achieve a non-streaky, even finish that dries down super glossy. It looks elegant yet bold and striking. It’s also great that in the pack it is a contrast to the ballet slippers shade, as often I've seen nail polish gift sets where they give shades that are too similar to one another, so it’s nice to get a pack where one shade is deep and bold while the other is much lighter and more subtle. Very happy with this nail polish joining my collection as it’s so so beautiful.

As someone who used to religiously wear nail polish, I have recently gotten back into wearing it after a fair while of not, so I wanted to update my collection with some shades I am into a lot more these days. I could not resist getting the shade “ballet slippers” from Essie because not only was there a half price sale on at Priceline, I also really wanted a glossy, milky pale pink and this one was on my radar for a long time. Also, having heard that this shade was the late Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite, I just had to try it. I am not at all disappointed and in fact I think this shade is now going to become a staple for me and I honestly don’t know how I hadn’t discovered it sooner. Firstly, the brush is just excellent. It’s wide and flat and makes application so easy and seamless. I did need to wipe off a bit of polish from the brush at first because it does hold onto a lot of product, but that is no matter. The colour is just beautiful, and it can be applied sheer so that it has a more translucent finish, or it can be layered up a bit for a more opaque finish. The consistency of this polish is also perfectly to my liking, as it’s not too funny and not thick either, so you feel more control when using this nail polish and it doesn’t leave a streakiness or go too tacky/ start drying too quickly while you’re still applying it. Once dry it leaves a gorgeous glossy finish and the milky pale pink colour is so elegant looking, and as it’s neutral it goes with any outfit. The bottle is also a decent size with a good amount of product within. I also like the embossed “Essie” branding on the glass bottle which is a nice touch. My only regret is that I didn’t try this nail polish sooner, I like it that much! And on that note I am so glad I got a number of other shades during the sale too, which I’m looking forward to using over the coming weeks.

This concealer is by all means a very average “drug store” concealer, in that it comes in a pretty standard tube with a slim doe foot applicator, in a range of common shades. However, despite being average it performs really well and does a decent job for me at concealing my blemishes, dark circles and any other areas of uneven skin tone. The texture is quite creamy and to me the finish comes off a bit dewy, definitely not matte. The shade I have, ivory rose, also leans quite peachy undertoned, so I find it works well as a colour corrector under my eyes. On that note, I find it also is good for use under my eyes as I don’t find it creases or makes my undereyes appear crepey or dry. I have only deducted one star as I find this concealer has a bit of a thinner consistency so it doesn’t always cover up everything, as it seems to struggle a bit with some blemishes, whereas I have other more pigmented concealers that can instantly cover up blemishes or marks with ease, without the need to layer the product or constantly work at it. Overall I am pleased I have tried this concealer as it is a nice one to have in my collection, especially for use under my eyes, so I don’t regret purchasing it.

I recently stumbled upon these sheet masks at Kmart as they were on clearance for $2 each. I grabbed a couple to try and after using it just once I felt it instantly softened and smoother my skin, and I liked it so much I had to go back to buy more at such a great price. The sheet mask comes in a smaller size packet which I like as it makes it more compact so easier to bring travelling, or to pop in to bag for an overnight stay somewhere. Upon opening the mask I noticed a very fresh pleasant scent which was not at all overpowering or too synthetic smelling. The mask itself is thin but not flimsy, and was saturated in a decent amount of the serum. As this mask is designed to be worn for just 5 minutes, it is easy to use when you’re busy if you don’t wish to use one that is designed to stay on for 15-20 mins. However, as I like to bask in the feeling of wearing a sheet mask and enjoy the experience I chose to wear mine for longer and after 15 mins decided to remove it. Afterwards my skin felt so hydrated and soft and the serum absorbed nicely and did not leave behind a sticky, tacky or slimy feeling. Overall I am really pleased with this sheet mask and happy I went back to buy more so I can continue to use these and see if they improve my skin over time, as they contain niacinamide which is great for skin resurfacing, minimising pores and assisting with excess surface oils. Also, there is hyaluronic acid in this product which is what helps it deliver intense hydration to the skin. Definitely worth the 5 stars to me :)

I got this foundation for two reasons, the first being I wanted a convenient stick foundation with a sponge or dense brush end for on-the-go application, and the second being the price as I found this heavily reduced. I find this foundation easy to apply with a few swipes to the main points of the face and then a bit of blending with the sponge and you’re done. The foundation feels quite creamy and lightweight to me and leaves behind a matte but not drying or cakey finish. Despite this I did feel like my skin was left with a biting an oily-ish feel afterwards for my liking, so I like to use a setting powder to combat that. I also feel like not much product is included so it will be interesting to see how long it actually lasts til it is all used up. I’ve also read other people’s reviews of this stating that the sponge applicator has gone mouldy, which fortunately has not been the case for me but it’s something I’ll keep an eye out for. Overall this product is not bad for a quick on-the-go foundation that has decent medium coverage that is buildable to a fuller coverage, and applies easily and quickly with a convenient sponge applicator included. It fits easily in my handbag and is useful for touch-ups throughout the day. I can’t say I would buy this foundation again though, as I wasn’t overly keen on the after-feel it leaves on my skin and I felt like it wasn’t as long-lasting as other foundations I’ve tried. On top of that, I find feel like a lot of product is included and not sure it will last me that long before it runs out (in comparison to how long a standard 30ml bottle of fluid foundation tends to last me). I’m saying that it’s not a bad product, does what it’s meant to and is easy and convenient for on-the-go, so I give it 3 stars as an average and still useful foundation.

I got this lipstick a fair while ago in a Cosmo showbag (back when they still existed) and was not sure at first if the shade I received (“ain’t no other”) would work for me, as at first glance I thought it looked pretty orange-leaning, but I was mistaken as once I swatched it I realised it is more of a pinkish-brownish nude which looks absolutely beautiful and happens to suit my skin tone very nicely. Upon first application, I initially thought it felt moisturising but “slippy”/ somewhat oily, which I wasn’t overly keen on. However, the somewhat oily-feel of this lippy soon seemed to absorb into my lips leaving behind only a moisturised, creamy feeling. It almost felt as though I was wearing a tinted balm if I didn’t know better. In terms of longevity this lipstick lasts several hours, at least 4-5 on me without eating/ drinking. After eating it mostly rubs off however I find this to be the case with most bullet-style lipsticks, so I do need to reapply this after a meal which is no bother for me personally. It also is housed in a sturdy black plastic tube and I feel like the Rimmel crown logo embossed on the top of the lid, along with a band of colour corresponding to the lipstick shade, is a nice touch and makes it look sleek and high quality. The lipstick is also scented which makes it feel more like a high end lippy rather than drug store, which for me makes the experience of using this product a lot more enjoyable. I even catch myself just taking a whiff of the lipstick just to experience the scent. On that note, it’s not at all an overwhelming or overpowering scent, so it shouldn’t bother most people unless you’re very sensitive to any kind of fragrance in cosmetics. Overall, I am very impressed with this lipstick and pleased I discovered it. After years I have still got it and still have about half of it left, and it has not spoiled at all in that the texture, scent and appearance haven’t changed one bit so I have no qualms in continuing using this until it’s done (despite what some might say about lipsticks expiring by a certain time). This one has lasted me a long time and held up well and now that I know I like the formula I think I would buy this again once I run out.

This hair mask from L’Oréal is one I keep coming back to because not only is it very affordable (especially when it’s half price) but it also does exactly what I expect from a good quality hair mask. I have dry ends and some frizz occasionally, so I find this mask helps to not only add moisture to my hair but also takes the frizz. After only one use of this product my hair is instantly softer and much easier to brush post-shower, and it leaves such a beautiful scent to the hair as well. The mask is a thick consistency which I love as some other masks I’ve tried are of a thinner consistency closer to conditioners and they just don’t cut it. Whereas this mask really coats the hair and adheres to each strand as you let it do it’s work. I tend to leave this in for around 10 mins and after rinsing it out my hair feels noticeably improved in texture/feel. I hope this product never gets discontinued because I have gone through so many tubs of it already and see myself constantly coming back to this one. If you’re on a budget and cannot afford the salon branded masks that tend to be $20+ each, then this is a really good alternative and tends to go down to about $5 when there’s a half price sale. I can’t fault this mask, from how long it lasts (a little goes a long way) to how it performs, to the luxurious scent and to the way it makes my hair feel, and of course the price, hence why I’ve given this product 5 stars.
